Maxine Aspland and guide Tatiana in Peterhof

To guide: Tatiana

My husband and I left Australia in August 2008 for a 6 week overseas holiday of a lifetime. We visited many countries on this trip including Japan, Norway, Russia, England and China. We organized our trip around a 15 night cruise of the Baltic countries on the Oceania Regatta. Before we left we organized private tours with just my husband and I. We don't like being herded around, pushed for time, and prefer to do our own thing. The highlight of our holiday was 3 nights spent in St Petersburg. Our visas were looked after for us, and after a few e-mails our personal itinerary was worked out.

Tatiana Yastrebinskaya was our guide for our stay in St. Petersburg. We were very happy to spend our time with her, as she was friendly, very informative and her English was excellent. Tatiana was always on time, unlike us on the first day because of the disembarking which took forever. The first day we visited Peter & Paul’s Fortress, Hermitage and did a rivers and canal cruise. The second day we drove to Peterhoff Palace and gardens this was amazing and very cold. To get back to St Petersburg we caught a Hydrofoil. Later in the afternoon we did a tour of Yusupov Palace. This stunning home from a bygone era is enriched in history. On our third and last day we drove to Pushkin (Tsar Village), for a visit to Catherine’s Palace with the Amber Room and a walk in the beautiful gardens. As we own a restaurant in Australia we were very interested in the local cuisine and Tatiana was more than helpful. We visited two pie shops for lunch. This was of great interest to me as my father was the pastry chef at the famous Yatala pies in Australia for 20 years. On our last day in St Petersburg Tatiana took us to Podvorie Russian Restaurant. This was a highlight of our trip and we enjoyed the company and the food. As we left I bought a beautiful hard cover cookbook with the recipes we had eaten. Back in Australia someone borrowed my special cookbook and liked it that much they kept it!! I e-mailed Tatiana and she immediately obtained another cookbook for me. Such is her dedication to her clients before, during and after.

If you intend to visit St Petersburg you could not do better than to have Tatiana as your guide.

Maxine Aspland.

To guide: Albina

Dear Albina:

Thank you for making both my trips to your wonderful city of St. Petersburg so interesting, exciting and memorable. Your enthusiasm and knowledge of your beautiful city makes the time spent on tours pass much too quickly. The tours you arranged for me let me see the places I was interested in and also introduced me to some of the wonderful hidden treasures of the region. Thank you again for making my time in St. Petersburg such a pleasant experience.

Best wishes,

John W. Penney
